A Year Later & Still Pressing On!

One year ago, a young man who was so miserably lost and frighteningly anxious emerged from the soul crippling darkness that shrouded the land which he tread. Thankfully, WordPress was there like a gleaming new bicycle. One with a darkness repelling squeezy horn. This metaphorical bike in all it’s new and wondrous glory was the shit. The bike took him to wonderful new places to read the stories of interesting people while telling a story of his own. And although he came to ride his bicycle less frequently than he used to, he still cherished it with all of his heart.

And that soul WASN’T Dandy. Because that man would’ve asked for a plasma powered hoverboard that plays 80s synth wave music at max volume while it’s ridden.

Over the past year, I have been fortunate to come across a lot of awesome blogs on here. And even more so to be followed by the writers of said blogs. Never in a million years would I have thought that somebody that writes a daily blog for a living or hobby would even give an ounce of a chicken wing as to what I posted on a blogging site. And I really am super thankful that they do continue to follow/read my content. So to you, the reader, I give you two thumbs up, a chicken and garlic sauce kebab and about 50 hi-fives. You seriously rock!

But during this past year, I have discovered many things that have contributed to my overall understanding of the world … just not to a deep or meaningful degree. Most of it is stuff to avoid, really. So apart from how to actually blog, Dandy learnt:

1 – That life without social networking is bloody fantastic

Technically, this one has hypocrisy smeared all over it in butterscotch tinted gunk. A blogging platform is form of social network. But what I meant was that life is bloody fantastic WITHOUT the likes of the Facebooks or the Twitters or anything along those lines. You become so bloody surprised as to how darn productive (and positive about life) you can be without those psyche sucking cesspits. And speaking of cesspits …

2 – That everyone should stay the hell away from DeviantArt

You might want to really get your art out there but please, don’t do it via DeviantArt. Hell, being a browser in most cases is even worse. You type in one thing and then all of a sudden, you’re scrolling through the results while occasionally bumping into the rabid hoards of questionably aged, half naked, horrific anime-esque original character pictures. Somebody needs to call a bloody gardener because this place has some outta control weeds.

3 – Chips can somehow taste like a scent of shit

I really don’t know how it can even be a conceivable thought that a cup of chips from a reasonably respectable vendor can taste like the scent of shit or some kind of horrifyingly odorous garbage. Not only did it put me off of chips for good but now I avoid that particular vendor like Stallone avoids talking about his earliest film.

4 – Video games are pretty bloody disappointing these days

It pains me more than anything to say this but honestly, for the past two years, video games have been lacking to the point of new and exciting upcoming releases are speculated and sometimes proven to be nothing more than a sorry sack of false promises. The biggest example of this that I can think of off the top of my head was Destiny. Just … fucking Destiny!

5 – That I somehow hadn’t seen The Breakfast Club up until now

Yeah, a few weeks ago, I made a conscious effort to finally watch this movie, even though sitting through a film without throwing myself up into some kind of spontaneous action that doesn’t involve gawking at a screen is a Herculean effort to the likes of myself. But by golly am I glad that I actually took the time to watch this 80s ode to the ‘coming-of-age’ genre. That and the kid in the denim jacket is funny. Most likely a potential sociopath but funny.

Hell, that’s just five. I’ve got pages of these …

I wont bore you for any longer. But I would like to extend a huge thank you out to all of my followers, current or former, for taking the time to read my blog and help me along my quest for some kind of inner peace. I hope you all have yourselves the most wonderful day that anyone could ever have.

Stay safe, and be good!

"And so, let my heart be hardened." This blog was all but abandoned, gathering digital cobwebs and whatnot, before I checked back in after the pitter-pattering of cyberrain. Or were they emails? Let this place be a beacon for my mind during my few sleepless nights.
